Summary/Abstract: Based upon a condensed analysis of political parties programs the conclusion can be drawn that six the most relevant political parties of Serbia can be, more or less approximately, classified into four distinctive ideological families: one group is consisting of leftists (Socialist Party of Serbia – SPS) and social- democrats (Democratic Party – DP), another group is made of national- populists (Serbian Renewal Movement – SRM) and illiberal populists (Serbian Radical Party - SRP), whilst in a separate branch is “people` s party” or “Volkspartei” (i.e. Democratic Party of Serbia – DPS), and in the last division is (neo) liberal G17 Plus. DPS has been the most persistent in keeping of its original ideological matrix. SPS and SRM have not made significant improvement in ideological sense in the last two decades. DP and SRP have been the most decisive ones, in comparison to the rest of the relevant political parties, in making of ideological swings, especially in the realm of socio- economic positions on the left- right axis. Ideological matrix of G17 Plus has been normatively the most consistent one. Grouping of the majority of the most relevant political parties can be observed within the right wing of political field – with no doubt there can be placed SRP and SRM, as well as DPS and G17 Plus. Two remaining parties, SPS and DP have been determined, on a long run, to compete mutually within the left spectrum of the political field of Serbia.
