Summary/Abstract: By observing evolution of premodern ideas of World State, the paper starts with analysis of mutual characteristic of their archaic imperial preccedors, connected with person of imperator as bearer of dual, united, spiritual and secular power on which oriental concept of «ruler as spiritualised law» (nomos empsychos) is based. It also describes origins of cosmopolian philosophic concept in the era of desolation of hellenic tradition as bearer of city- state (polis) values, which are merging with earlier mentioned oriental power concepts, and creating together imperial- cosmopolitan ideology of hellenistic and roman World State. Furthermore describing process of christianisation as revaluation of antique universalism, the paper is heading towards medieval concepts of World State in western and eastern half of Europe.
