Regions and the Challenges of the Future

Summary/Abstract: In this article, we locate the notion of “challenges of the future” in the processes targeting the creation of regional futures. The paper contains methodological reflection upon the positioning of challenges in analysing and creating the future. It shows the central position of the “challenges of the future” in strategy development and regional growth management. Their application in diagnosing problems and in the conducting of foresight studies and strategy development is described on the basis of the authors’ expertise.
