Summary/Abstract: The research subject matter of this paper deals with Polish-German phraseological compounds (word associations) verbalizing the feeling of FEAR. The paper aims at the contrastive analysis of the conceptualision of fear in both Polish and German and indicating the existing similarities and differences between the linguistic picture of fear in the Polish and German culture while making use of the rich research base. Certain phraseological compounds responding to each other in a semantic and functional way have been analyzed here. The result of this research could provide a theoretical base for further practical works aiding the second language acquisition process.
