Summary/Abstract: Many Macedoromanians, who used to exclusively inhabit the villages of Grabova, Nicea, Lănga (Lunca), Şipsca deserted their villages during the communist dictatorship in Albania and, especially, after the fall of the regime at the beginning of 1990s. As a result, the village of Şipsca, close to Moscopolis, was almost completely depopulated: of the 20 houses that were inhabited in 2003 only 3 were still being inhabited in four years later. The situation was different in Grabova (Greava, in the local idiom), where about 300 people were living in 60 houses (as compared to 44, in 2003). The field research that we carried at Grabova provides data about the village, its inhabitants and their occupations, their sociolinguistic condition, as well as the manner in which the Macedoromanian dialect is changing nowadays.
