Summary/Abstract: Pointing at mutual connection and effects of documentary TV reportage and literature, the authors analytically and critically define a theoretical framework of this popular genre, and at the same time state its decreasing presence on television. There is no doubt that journalism is changing, while warm, narrative stories as testimonies of life still have a large auditorium. A good, creative reportage demands a lot of effort of the author and cameraman, who more and more often make a well coordinated team, ready to offer the audience authentic pictures of life with all the details revealing the colors of reality, through a great deal of renunciation and vivacity, and combining research in the field with creative editing. The visual character of television expression is a powerful narrative tool, and complemented with stylistic-lexical jewels it compellingly and gradually reveals unusual or hidden secrets of common people and scenery. An event, person, occurrence and context encrusted with the TV view offer beams of different meanings and senses in comparison with the flood of tabloid reality formats. However, for masters of TV industries profit is always more important than trust.
