Summary/Abstract: Emigration has played an important role in building the image of Poland andPoles. It also affected the foreigner’s perception of Poland. In addition to the impact onthe social composition of local communities, the economy in the micro- and macroscaleand the culture, it becomes a kind of image-building. The paper proposesa chronological typology of Polish emigration to Latin America. It sets out the relevantfactors and motivations leading polish citizens to emigrate. It describes the main trendsof migration. Finally, it shows the evolution of the relation with Poland as a countryof origin, considering the multi-factorial internal and external conditions of the PolishDiaspora in Latin America.
