Summary/Abstract: The issues of justice in the so-called small towns of Royal Prussia, as opposed to large municipalities such as Gdańsk and Toruń, has not enjoyed historians’ interest so far.The article tries to fill this gap by answering basic questions about the types of judicial authorities and their competences, but also the education and the experience of judges,their practical knowledge of law and, finally, the „quality” of Themis in the context of a small towns of Prussia. It represents a contribution to broader research on the functioning of minor urban centers in the early modern period in East and Central Europe.
