Summary/Abstract: The author of the paper deals with structural and semantic characteristic of names of cosmetics used in modern Russian language. Searched material was excerpted from commercial slogans printed in Russian women’s magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Elle, Glamour, Добрые cоветы, Единственная, Копилка cемейных cоветов, Натали. The findings indicate that analyzed vocabulary make up a very interesting and internally diverse structural group. The contemporary names of cosmetics are represented by simple words and compound words (appositional sequences of two nouns). But the most productive types of structure of names of cosmetics are multi-verbs, composed from few words. The reason for popularity of analytical names is that they generally specify the detail of cosmetics, what helps the customer to choose preferable product.
