VICTOR VLAD DELAMARINA – BETWEEN LITERARY LANGUAGE AND DIALECT

Summary/Abstract: Known as the first Romanian dialectal poet and less as a memoirist, Victor Vlad Delamarina (1870-1896) lived during an age of intense political, social and cultural changes. Following Pierre Bourdieu’s theory about habitus, this study will try to examine the ways in which (even antithetic) environments could influence Delamarina’s representations of reality and his approaches to the creative experience. Regarding this essential experience, it is interesting to see that the author chose to revaluate the dialect in poetry and the literary language in prose or memoirs. The first section of the study emphasizes the social and political mixed background that impelled Delamarina’s biography and creation. The following parts are going to focus on the effects that surroundings have had on his achievements.
