Summary/Abstract: The Romanian poets who published their first book after 2000 have been included in a particular literary generation, even if there are some important differences that separate them. One of the few common elements is their interest in the human body, poetically discussed from many points of view. The text below tries to see how flesh and blood are depicted in the poems written by two young writers, Medeea Iancu and Marius Chivu, whose first books (published in 2011 and 2012) have impressed both readers and critics. Compared not only to each other, but also to the poetry written before, these books have powerful characteristics that identify subtle connections between illness, biography and individuality. Even if the means of achieving literary effect are not the same (rich, dense, melodious imagination in Medeea Iancu’s poems, simple records with unusual metaphors in Marius Chivu’s poetry), both poets succeed in revealing human weakness and expectation of a miracle. With childish eyes, they turn to details hidden in their memory in order to gain the (ontological and poetical) state of balance. The attempt of commenting on Medeea Iancu’s and Marius Chivu’s poetry does not neglect comparisons with other important young poets, in order to emphasize their distinctive features.
