Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problem of cultural identity in the context of Vladimir Varshavsky theory. In his book The Unnoticed Generation Varshavsky wrote about the younger generation of the First Wave, which consisted of people who had not managed to make a name for themselves in Russia. Varshavsky and others young emigrants who had lived in Paris science early 20s, tried to create their own identity in contrast to older refugees. The analysis of the identity of those emigrants contributes into the more general problems that constitute key aspects in formation of any cultural identity.
