Lessons of postmodernism with look back on the future

Summary/Abstract: This article aims at an analytical approach to a referential text of the theory of Postmodernism: Six Memos for the Next Millennium, a posthumous work of Italo Calvino, edited by his wife, Esther Calvino, and by Garzanti Publishing House in 1988. The volume is based on a series of lectures written for Harvard University and intended for the academic year 1985-1986. The lectures had as themes certain “values” or “proposals” characteristic to the narrative literature of the coming millennium: Lightness, Quickness, Exactitude, Visibility, Multiplicity and a sixth one only sketched, Consistency.
