Summary/Abstract: The article considers Spanish and Ukrainian adages characterizing everyday life. Specific adage units are interpreted on a basis of metaphorical images. The metaphor as the most common figurative means presented in Spanish proverbs and sayings is analyzed in the article. Attention is focused on mapping behavior, character traits and a person's appearance through the prism of the image of the animal.
