Summary/Abstract: The article dwells on the geopolitical importance of South China Sea and territorialdisputes which occured in this region. It also describes maritime military potential of thestates which are involved in territorial disputes over Spratly and Paracel Islands.Additionally, it explains process of the modernization and future perspectives of thementioned fleets.
