Summary/Abstract: The present article is intended to be a brief review of the main current approaches in regard to music-language relations and origins. It illustrates the musilanguage model, but also the way music is conceived within the evolutionary thinking framework, emphasizing the essential role that music supposedly played in the early times of the human species in terms of social cohesion and of forging a sense of group identity.
