Summary/Abstract: In this paper we present our experience in teaching introductory course in programming. We combine guided inquiry-based learning (IBL) approach with simulations delivered via e-learning environment Moodle and used in blended mode. In the first section we discuss some theoretical issues of inquiry-based learning. The second section deals with e-learning concept and classification of e-learning tools for enhancing of IBL. The third section is focused on the scenarios for implementation of IBL with simulation tools in the “Introduction to programming” course. In conclusion we discuss some of the results achieved in the course.
