Summary/Abstract: The title of the article contains two words in the field of verbal aggression: the Old Polish verb “hejstać” – unique in the light of preserved materials, dating back to the fifteenth century – and the contemporary Polish verb “hejtować” – a very popular borrowing from English. The authors clarify their meanings, refer totheir etymology and identify their common origin from *hatjan. Finally, authors compare them with otherwords in this field, based on their semantic motivation.
