Summary/Abstract: In 1945-1989, the role of industrial plants was to assist the school in the socialist education of the youth. Material assistance would be of secondary importance. However, at least in the first decade of functioning of welfare committees, most schools benefited from the material support. Greater involvement of some industrial plants in the ideological and educational activities began in the sixties and was rather a consequence of top–down pressures of party authorities and educational administration than the will of the industrial plants management. Nevertheless, the quality and results of their work are difficult to clear interpretation, mainly due to the predominance of party materials on this issue. Undoubtedly, thanks to the help of industrial plants, the general secondary schools in Częstochowa had the opportunity to accomplish many extensive renovations and repairs, purchase educational aids and receive additional financial support which positively affected their didactic work.
