Summary/Abstract: The present research will be a synthetic one and will examine the somehow recent phenomenon of linguistic globalization and the process of Anglicism assimilation and adoption into two Romance languages, namely Romanian and Italian. The study will emphasize the difficulties and problems regarding these two processes, insisting on both the similarities and the differences between the two idioms previously mentioned regarding the borrowing and adoption of words of English origin. The paper approaches some attempts of defining the term “Anglicism” and presents the studies of Romanian, Italian and English linguists and researchers in the field of Anglicisms.
