Summary/Abstract: This paper refers to the mistakes that are frequently made nowadays when speaking: the complete absence of adjectives in the spoken language; the clichés that cannot be avoided, because they are so frequent, to the point of being annoying; and the deterioration, and lack of, a library system. It addresses all that we personally find striking and irritating. The paper actually expresses some of our own views regarding language and the way people abuse it. Thus we hope that it will help to make us more aware of our mistakes and provide us all with an incentive to be more careful to the way in which we tend to express ourselves, because how we do that does make a difference. The reason why we have chosen this topic is that, in our opinion, slang has become more than just a social phenomenon. Linguists have been faced with the problem of defining this aspect of language and the debate has remained open because so far, they have not decided upon a clear definition. Therefore, this paper is an attempt to bring to your attention some aspects regarding the way in which this language concept appeared.
