Summary/Abstract: Archival department Kotor until 1992 was a part of independent Historical Archive of Kotor, and is since then part of Department of the State Archives of Montenegro. Because of the quantity, character and degree of processing of archives, it is one of the most important department in Montenegro. More than half of archival material kept in depos of the Archives refers to funds in the field of administration and public services and the judiciary. In recent years, the Department increased the number of service users, due to increasing the number of funds and amount of archival material, and because the process of privatization and restitution. During processing, great attention is paid exactly to that documentation which can serve in evidential purposes.
