Summary/Abstract: This article takes as a basis the book by the architect Andrew Basista “Tales of the buildings. The architecture of four cultures” in which I search the category to describe the phenomenon of architecture. Using hermeneutics as a basis, I reflect on the categories of Substance, Destiny, Beauty, Space, Garment, Light, Interior and Facade in architecture. The first four categories are fundamental, basic for architecture. I analyze others terms in the context of interactionism. Although in today's world manifestations of "dehumanizing" of architecture could be seen, modern architecture is not deprived of important meanings and may be the basis for the individual identity development.
