Summary/Abstract: The paper refers to changes of legal regulation on the labour relationship expiration. The labour relationship expiration results in the termination of that relationship by virtue of legal event other than legal action. The labour relationship expiration regulation was introduced to law for the first time by the Labour code of 1975. The code provided 3 cases of such expiration: the abandonment of work, expiry of employee’s 3-month absence caused by provisional arrest and failing to report to work by employee elected to public function within 7 days since the end of the term of office. Currently, the catalogue has been extended by the death of employee and the death of employer, the catalogue has been also narrowed by the abandonment of work. The analysis carried out in the paper proves that widely accepted thesis on the numerus clausus of the labour relationship expiration cases in statutory law is erroneous. It appears that such result is also caused by employee’s total incapacitation and joining roles and attributes of employee and employer by one person.
