Summary/Abstract: The article is focused on the inequality dynamics among the social groups in Bulgaria during the 1992 – 2002 period. Inequality increased for the six social groups in line with the growth of the overall inequality in Bulgaria. The highest inequality levels are found in the group of farmers and employed in the agriculture and in the group of unskilled workers. The lowest inequality levels are found in the group of the managers and specialists with a tertiary education and in the group of the specialists with secondary education. The main income sources, except for the group of the self-employed, are (i) wages and salaries and (ii) income from agriculture. As expected, social transfers are found to reduce the inequality among all groups, while the main contributors to the income inequality are income from employment, income from agriculture and income from self-employment (for the group of entrepreneurs and for this of farmers and employed in the agriculture).
