Summary/Abstract: Bankruptcy of enterprises have negative consequences for the economy and society. They require continuous and detailed research. The paper aims at examining the relationship between the level of entrepreneurship and the intensity of bankruptcy processes across Polish regions (voivodships) in 2010–2015. Entrepreneurship level was measured by the number of business entities registered in the National Official Register of the National Economy Entities (REGON) system per 1000 people of working age. The voivodships were classified into one of four groups describing the level of entrepreneurial activity from very low to high. The intensity of bankruptcy processes was determined using location quotient methodology. The author identified the regions of excessive, average or below average concentration of analysed phenomenon. A strong linear relationship is observed between the rate of newly established enterprises and the scale of bankruptcy processes. A moderate relationship was demonstrated between the level of entrepreneurship and the number of bankruptcies. On the other hand, a weak relationship was observed between the level of entrepreneurial activity and the intensity of bankruptcy processes on a regional basis.
