Summary/Abstract: This theoretical and empirical article is based on the research project involving primary school students. In its theoretical part, the study discusses the concept of leisure, its functions and ways of spending free time by children and their parents as illustrated by national research. The empirical part, whereas, discusses author’s research findings concerning ways of spending free time by students, and parents’ engagement in their children’s free time activities.
