Summary/Abstract: The article presents the outstanding French pianist Hélène Grimaud, whose worldwide artistic work started in the 90s of the 20th century. Born in southern France, at first she was educated in her hometown, then at the Conservatory of Marseilles as a student of the famous Pierre Barbizet. She continued her musical education at the National Conservatory in Paris in the piano class of Jacques Rouvier. However, her strong individualism and intense search for her own artistic identity hampered the formation of her musical personality by the institution. Hélène Grimaud’s work on her individual piano sounds and the artistic image of her imitative art, crowned with success lasting from the beginning of the 21st century, has been based to a considerable extent on philosophical elements. The intention of the author of this article is not only to show the profile of the outstanding artists, but also to present the philosophical background of her performance as well as – to a certain extent – the origin of her attitudes to her environment in terms of her relationships with nature and people. The connection between the area of the artistic work and the above mentioned attitudes in the case of Hélène Grimaud is very clear, and her inspiration with the world of nature is obvious.
