Recreational fishing pressure on selected lakes in the North-Western administrative district

Summary/Abstract: Lakelands of the north-west of Poland are one of the most valuable ecosystems in Poland, it is very natural and attractive to tourists. One of the important issues carried out in this area should be sustainable tourism management. That includes angling, formerly associated with fishery, which was a form of getting food. With time it became leisure activity and entertainment that allows the contact with nature. Determination of the rules of recreation (angling) exploitation is extremely important to maintain a balance in the studied ecosystems. The aim of the study was to determine species, weight and number of fish harvested by anglers and to obtain data on the used anglers methods and intensity of fishing pressure. Conducted questionnaire surveys allowed to determine fishing pressure and preferences of anglers in six lakes of north-west Poland.
