Summary/Abstract: The evolution of exponents, forms and functions of dialectal stylization may be divided into eight phases, parallel to the periodisation of Polish literature and culture. Up from the Renaissance era, dialectal stylization has gradually encompassed a broader range of artistic texts, both poetry and prose. It reached its apogee in the 20th century, taking the form of a folk current in Polish prose in which dialectal stylization (besides the theme) became one of the two constitutive elements of an artistic text.
