Lithuanian State Policy in the Context of Training ICT Staff in the Years 2004–2014

Summary/Abstract: The article presents some aspects of the reform of higher education in Lithuania. The beginning of the reform dates back to 2004 while the implementation of these assumptions took place in 2009. The main aspect of the changes was the introduction of a new financial instrument – ‘student voucher’, which allowed controlling the flow of candidates to specific fields of study necessary for the country's economy. The study programs belonging to the ICT group were among the specialisations essential for the Lithuanian economy . That is why the policy of the Lithuanian state was directed to grant a growing number of ‘student vouchers’ for this area of studies.
