Summary/Abstract: Based on the language situation in the world today, especially the great dominance of English and the inescapable decline of other languages, this contribution suggests that the Germans should learn more Polish – not only for communicative reasons but above all because both peoples are connected with each other by a long and very painful history and because in this way Germans could strengthen the present friendship – at least to be able to better understand their Polish neighbours.
