Summary/Abstract: The authors of the study conducted research on websites of districts and counties of Podkarpacie and Lublin provinces in East Poland. Getting the reply to the following questions was an. The aim of the research was the get answers to the following questions: ̶ Are websites built according to the law, in a professional way technically and friendly for recipients? ̶ It is right for persons conducting private business to use the websites of local government institu-tions to promote their activities for free? In reply to the above questions – thanks to the comprehensive evaluation of websites – the authors of the study are putting forward the thesis: information and visual value of websites depends not only on finances of the self-government local authority, but above all – the computer knowledge and the responsibility of persons creating websites.
