Summary/Abstract: This article talks about the issue of coping with stress related to the job of the religious education teacher. In the first part of the article the author refers to the personal experiences of religion teachers in order to understand the kind of stress resulting from teaching religion education classes and further present a list of such stress factors. The second part includes an explanation of the psychological concept of stress as well as its positive and negative influence on the psychosomatic functioning of a person. In the third part, the author explores the issue of coping with stress and presents various factors determining the effectiveness of the strategies used to cope with stress. The analysis of the issue undertaken by this article leads to a conclusion that recommends an ongoing spiritual and personal development for catechists.
