Summary/Abstract: Contemporary human beings are in a crisis related to their understanding of God and to experiencing Him in their hearts, and the crisis also concerns religion as a whole. The crisis of religion is a crisis of comprehending and experiencing God. Although ideas and notions of God are changing, the very self of God remains immutable and inaccessible to humans due to their cognitive limitations. If we want to comprehend the crisis of religion, we must be aware of its goals, tasks and functions towards human beings. Christianity is the centre of the Christian world, with Catholicism being part of it. This centre is surrounded by the following spheres: I – the sphere of integral influence and integral affiliation, II – the sphere of non-integral attitude of the baptized and even of the non-baptized who live within the range of Christian notions, and III – the sphere of a natural inclination towards values such as reason, goodness and beauty (logical, ethical and aesthetic orders). Based on the writings by Father Z. Mościcki, the current paper aims at presenting the aforementioned issues.
