On the pepper’s way

(Origin, distribution, use, names and symbols)

Summary/Abstract: The text is a part of a bigger research, which compares the condiments in an interdisciplinary aspect. Object of this research are the condiments black pepper and red pepper. Purpose of the study is by disclosure of the origin, the history of entry, the type and properties of each condiment to describe their spread in Bulgaria, in the Balkans and as far as possible, in Europe. Special emphasis is placed on their names, their use at home and in medicine, and the associated with this use beliefs in ritual and magic.
