Summary/Abstract: A proper diet is on the necessary conditions to maintain a homeostasis of the body, that is to maintain a one’s health. The body goes through many changes during puberty. These changes pertain to emotional, cognitive and physical spheres. Important changes occur in the body: rapid growth in height, development of blood vessels, increase in body mass, bone growth. This requires changes to dietary habits of a young organism. During this period, which happens to be during school years, eating habits are developed. In recent years the dietary situation in reference to children and adolescents is not satisfactory in many aspects. The diet of the young generation is improperly balanced, typically contains an excessive amount of dietary components with an obvious lack of other necessary ingredients. Dietary mistakes made by the parents, but also feeding centers – canteens, school food shops, predispose individuals to develop many eating disorders such as: type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, osteopenia, osteoporosis.
