Summary/Abstract: The volume reviewed is a collection of columns – translated into English – published between 2001 and 2005 in the pages of the Pristina weekly JAVA. The paper initiated the identity debate when the idea was first proposed that Kosovo needs to find a new flag, coat of arms and anthem – different from those of Albania – since the province will not be permitted to join Albania in the foreseeable future, and will thus become an independent, autonomous state. The debate is divided into four distinct parts. The first naturally concerns the concept of Albanians, in a Kosovar interpretation. The second group of articles deals with the problem of Kosovar identity. The third and fourth issues addressed are whether Kosovar could be a code or keyword, and whether it can be a source of political identity. What clearly emerges from the book is that the debate has not answered the question posed in the title about who is Kosovar. Moreover, there is a strong suspicion that it was not even intended to do so. There are no Kosovars – and there will definitely not be any Kosovars – until it has been decided “whose” province it is.
