Summary/Abstract: Estonia is a country where citizens may vote in a traditional way which is voting at polling stations or using alternative voting methods e.i. proxy, advance voting, postal voting or electronic voting (e-voting). Introducing alternative methods of voting was a result of the information society development. The aim of the article is to present Estonian experience concerning implementing I-voting and its procedu- re. It should be emphasized that remote Internet voting is widespread. Votes cast in such a way are stored and counted by the central computerelection system. It is worth mentioning that on the one hand, the electronic voting used in a electoral process provides the society with many conveniences, such as inter alia low costs of organizing elections and referendums, low costs of citizens' participation and posi- bility to vote for people who are not at their place of residence. On the other hand, it is likely to pose many threats concerning cyber security and legality of voting.
