Summary/Abstract: The motivation is in the phraseology to a great extent an individual and controversial phenomenon, especially when the analyzed idiom is undergoing a semantic extension of its meaning. While analyzing examples of authentic use of the idiom ein heißes Pflaster the author distinguishes and describes conceptual metaphors, metonymies and metaphtonomies to reveal the complexity of motivating mechanisms of its meaning.
