The European Union –Sovereign States’ Political Union

Summary/Abstract: The work is consisting of an introduction, two sections and a conclusion. The first part gives a historical overview of the European Union’s development, while the second part deals with the issue of definition and positioning of the European Union according to typology of international regional and economic organizations, with identifying and defining of certain federal and confederal elements that incurred as a result of contractual development. The emphasis of work is placed on the question of relations between the EU and national sovereignty of member states that they have retained as the exclusive right within this organization.
