Summary/Abstract: After being officially recognized as a candidate for the EU membership at Helsinki Summit on 11-12 December 1999, Turkey has stepped up its efforts to adopt European standards of human rights regulations. Turkey has made substantial progress by adopting nine harmonization packages concerning the right to live with the “Adjustment laws”. In our article, we examine Turkey’s substantial progress in the field of right to live and reveal how the Adjustment Laws contributed to the improvement of the right to live in Turkey in the light of critics stated in the Progress Reports.
