Summary/Abstract: Between 1918 and 1939, Częstochowa was a multicultural and multi-religious town. Jews were the largest religious minority, accounting for over 20% of the population of Cz#stochowa. Jews very actively participated in the social life of the town. One of the areas of their activity was education. There were 3 vocational schools and 2 schools of general education operating in Częstochowa. The vocational schools were: School of Crafts for Jews, School for Apprentices (male) and School for Apprentices (female). The schools of general education were: Middle School of the Society of Jewish Secondary Schools and Filip Axer's Middle School. The teaching staff of these schools was well-educated and possessed law-required qualifications. A big barrier to teaching young generations was the issue of payment for education. The costs of education were high, therefore schools used various concessions for students in school fees. The development of Jewish education was disrupted by the outbreak of World War II.
