Summary/Abstract: The paper refers to basics of supply chains functioning on food market. It contains the main information about supply chains and their actions. The paper also focuses on new solutions, which are possible to implement in the process of supply chain management. There are new technologies of supply chain management presented, such as: agile chain, lean management and just in time as well as their impact on functioning of supply chain. Additionally, the paper informs about EU projects strictly connected to innovations in food supply chain. Indication of modern solutions and innovations in food supply chain made it possible to show the new approach of logistics development in food market. The whole of considerations allowed to sum up the global supply chains development and improvement of supply chains in food industry.
