Summary/Abstract: The construct of green innovation based on sustainability has also started to take its place in the health sector. In this respect, as reassessing in terms of their effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare institutions, they are important to position themselves in the green world and to take measures for it. The future will make necessary not only savings in the use of health resources and the reduction of costs of them but also sustainability. The requirement has brought the agenda the question what can be done to the sustainability in the current time, and has led to the emergence of new designs with an emphasis on the environment. Thus, the resulting "innovative environmental designs" have started to find a place in the health community and has led to the emergence of new designs, which give emphasis on green and sustainability indoors and outdoors. In this context, the purpose of this study is to provide general information about innovative environmental designs and explain how green designs have spread to the health sector. In addition, as giving examples for eco-friendly and sustainable healthcare organizations, how the green hospitals can be built and whether it is possible and what they pay attention to indoors and outdoors will be examined in this study. This study is a product of comprehensive literature review. The results of the study show that hospitals should be designed as green buildings since their initial stages. In addition, hospitals should be registered as a green hospital with the international certification systems (such as LEED) accepted in the international arena. As such, the practices will be the most permanent and comprehensive choice for green. With a sustainable hospital approach, this study expected to contribute to the literature and healthcare businesses.
