Summary/Abstract: The Christian religion was the foundation upon which Frederick Wilhelm Foerster built his conceptof education. Not only were his proposed aims of education based on it, he also believed thatthe entire educational process can be placed within the realm of religion. It is because of the Christian religion that we are able to create a hierarchy of values, it validatesthe resignation from personal gains and makes it possible for our impulsive force to becometamed and governed by our spiritual values. A properly formed inner life was also, according toFoerster, the key to repairing social relations. It can therefore be concluded that the Christian religionwas in Foerster’s opinion at the same time the source, purpose and way of personal life.
