Summary/Abstract: This article concerns the problems related to defining Polish urban movements. In the first part of the article the author analyses structural changes in contemporary social movements. The author focuses primarily on the analysis of issues such as new manners of communication and structural transformations in social movements. The second part of the article is devoted to the specificity of Polish urban movements, analyzed as crucial social agents of cultural change. Polish society, which had previously become deprived of the social and cultural foundations of modern urbanity, has nowadays become an urban society. As such, it requires new narratives and a new urban language. These cultural foundations for a new urban identity are being built and supplied through Polish urban movements.
