Summary/Abstract: Antun Vjenceslav Truhelka, although a Czech, was fighting for the Croatian language through his literary and pedagogic activities. He was a teacher, musician, interpreter and author of pedagogic papers, schoolbooks and manuals, Except in Czech, he wrote short stories, fables, poems, chants, riddles, etc. in Croatian. He was an associate for the magazines Napredak, Moravsky Pestoun, Smilje, and in Osijek he started a teachers' annual magazine Zora. Truhelka's work contributed to the cultural and educational history of Osijek.
