Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the democratic transformation from a broader perspective, however, special attention is paid to the third phase of this process - consolidation. Democratic consolidation is due to its link with the so called maximal democracy seen as the most important part of this process. Bringing the concept of democratic transformation into practice on the case study of Serbia, the article focuses on constitutional, political and social changes that are an inalienable part of the democratic transformation of the selected country, but of course of the wider region of Central and Eastern Europe too. To clarify the process of these changes, interactive theories that see this process in terms of a dynamic and comprehensive perspective will be used. While we will not neglect the historical and regional context, nationalism and identity issues, cultural and value system, civil society, economic changes, globalization trends and transnational politics, which altogether influence the transition and in particular the consolidation of democracy in Serbia.
