Summary/Abstract: In modern warehouses the dominant type of storing is shared storage. It means that the given product can be stored in theoretically unrestricted number of locations and vice versa, given location can store unrestricted number of various products. Therefore, when the decision maker wants to select locations for order-picking, many criteria should be used. Their examples are: the distance from the start, the degree of demand satisfaction, storage time or the number of other picked products in the neighbourhood of analysed location. In the article particular attention will be put on the last feature. Putting more weight on it may cause that maybe more distant location will be selected, but many products from locations placed closer to each other can be picked. “Attractiveness” of each location will be determined by means of synthetic variable, named Taxonomic Measure of Location’s Attractiveness (Polish abbreviation – TMAL).
